Have I got a deal for you:

I will, at any time during the next two weeks, tell you to sit in your car with the motor running for 25 minutes. Then I will pay you $1.50. (You must pay out of your own pocket for the gas you burn.)

Sound like a good deal? Well, here is my rant: People who queue up in long lines to save five cents per litre of gas are doing pretty much exactly the same thing. It's stupid; five cents per litre will save them a dollar and a half per thirty litres--and I am being generous in saying that their tanks will be so empty that they could hold even that much.

But how much are they actually saving if they have to sit in those irritating traffic-snarling queues for up to 1/2 an hour? I mean, even if they saved as much as a dollar (and that is a stretch) causing sheer traffic-heartbreak to others and agitation to themselves ... surely that can't be worth a single buck, can it?

By the way, I did get laid off. Feh.

Last thing before I go enjoy Christmas (no "bah humbug" from me): If the medium is the message, then the message of multi-media must be multiple personalities ....
