The other night we were watching a movie, when we noticed some guy in the condos across from us looking out from a darkened bedroom through his half-open blinds and into our living room. I took a peek and he was just standing there, almost motionless, staring. So I went out onto the balcony, and made myself pretty obvious to him as I watered the plants and flowers out there. Then I looked up and he continued to stare. We were pretty sure that he thought we couldn't see him, as he was in a darkened room, but the ambient light was sufficient that we could--in particular the glint off his glasses, which also gave him something of a creepy inhuman look.

Well, tiring of being unblinkingly stared at, we closed the drapes and continued watching the movie. But a few hours later, we noticed that he was still there and still staring! He was definitely moving, so he wasn't some statue or life-sized cutout. But it was definitely creepy. So then we went to bed (our bedroom is impervious to being seen from the outside thanks to some good blinds and the balcony railing) and forgot about him.

But the night before last he was staring again, and this time we were pretty sure that he was naked. Eww. What is it with this guy? Some ideas that were bandied about: New tenant, new boyfriend of tenant that was already there. Sociopath.

The woman who lives--or lived--there used to keep her blinds drawn tight and she was very secretive. Who can blame her? She probably didn't enjoy lookie-loos into her bedroom. She also used to have that aggressive "I'm trying to show you that I don't know you're there" body language when she was out tending her little garden, and as I stood or sat on my balcony.

But Mr. Naked Creepazoid hasn't got that same concern. Maybe next time I should wave and smile.
