I am not a big fan of Daylight Savings Time (DST) ... oh, sure, I know that we save a jillion dollars on energy costs, and farmers can see longer into the evening (or at least not get up at quite such an early hour) but I lost an hour of sleep last weekend to DST, and I don't like it at all. Right now I just want to sleep. Even in the Fall, when we are getting to "cash in" that "extra" hour, it doesn't cut it for me: Just let me keep the same schedule and I am fine.
Start messing with it and I turn into Grumpy Danger-Bear.

So I proofread my latest story this morning, and decided to stop mucking about with it and just post it here on my website. The truth of the matter is that it has sat on a hard drive for many weeks—months, in fact—and I have been afraid of the character and the evil he does. Well, not exactly afraid of the character (Ronnie is his name) as I am of people who read the story.
Not quite, this is it: I am afraid of the reception. I am afraid that people will read it and think that I've finally lost all my marbles. (Of course, looking at Grumpy Danger-Bear above, they might already think that anyhow ...) The new story is called A Delivery of Macramé and it is about, well, basically, a man who has killed before and he'll kill again, and he just can't help himself because he's "missing a filter or two". That is, his "wiring is a bit faulty ..."
For years I've greatly enjoyed the writing of Shirley Jackson and Flannery O'Connor ... and so this story is a little something I learned from them with, I sincerely hope, my own Brian Porter stylistic stamp on it!
