So I haven't been particularly active the last couple of weeks. This is because I am in Full Sloth Mode while I sit out the days between my old job and my new one.
But I'm not just lying around on the sofa or floor sleeping off alcohol-induced stupors, though. In fact, just today I did a little cleaning around here, even creating a minor mountain of 6+ year old papers as I emptied my briefcase and closeted bags of old bill statements and letters from the bank, insurance corporation, Revenue Canada, etc.
Then there was a frustrating moment because my wife brought in the mail with even more paper for me. A veritable ocean of it (actually, I once wrote a song about too much paper back in 1992 ... but I was foolish for thinking that small heap constituted a problem ... these days my paper collection is orders of magnitude greater).
So I went out and got a paper shredder. Oh what joy that was! First I shredded all my old bank and credit card statements from 1997 to about 2004. Then I decimated my collection of old bill statements. Not satisfied with that, I went through all the bags of those little debit card slips that I'm so paranoid about throwing away (my bank card number is at least partially written on those) until my wife asked me to please stop; the noise was really getting to her. So I finished the bag I was on and accidentally shredded my shredder's warranty card, a recipe that was sitting on the counter foolishly close to the pile of papers to be shredded, and this month's Hydro bill (oops).
It's just as well I stopped when I did; the machine was getting hot and starting to smell like burning motor bushings (and to be fair, it was not designed for heavy industrial use), the huge green garbage bag was full of paper shreds, and I couldn't stuff any more into it. So I dragged the bag downstairs to the recycle bin, satisfied beyond words about my new purchase. For the cost of dinner at an average restaurant I can now shred papers at will ... and with glee. Tee hee hee.

Also keeping me out of idle-hands-induced trouble this week has been recording vocals and occasional guitar highlights. Yesterday I got the vocals down for that magic-realism wander-the-forest-and-pick-flowers song I talked about more than a year ago.
Tomorrow I work on a much newer one called, "Blue Fizzy Enzyme Drink". You should try some of that, by the way. It is quite invigorating.
