" ... stressballs galore ..."
-a friend's words which are, by far, the best description of a workplace I've heard since 1997* * *
My desk got moved here at work. I now sit more-or-less in the dead centre of the Workstation Sea, bobbing up and down with the currents of people moving to and fro, and, even at the apex of the wave-crests, not able to see any natural light through the windows because they are too far away and/or obscured.
It's a good thing I am a vampire and melt in direct sunlight, huh? That way, I am safe from the ... oh, wait: I am not a vampire ... and I do not melt in sunlight. In fact, I wither on the vine without a bit of natural light on my pale white waxy (almost translucent) skin!
What to do to alleviate the decay?
Today is such a beautiful temperate sunny day ... how about a really pleasant lunch time excursion? Bully!
So today for lunch I did something that smacked of ... freedom. I took my motorbike out for a spin, driving around the Stanley Park Drive, and stopped at the Lumberman's Arch for a greasy cheeseburger and fries. Gosh, what a fantastic way to spend lunchtime: in the sun. A ride through the trees and a beautiful view of Stanley Park and the Port of Vancouver/Burrard Inlet, and lunch contemplating the rolling grass and wending pathways of the park.
The experience, though brief, was so pleasant that coming back to work was no problem at all. It was just a little pick-me-up in the middle of the day that left me energized and ready to work through the afternoon.
Wow, life feels good today!
