Some spam I got the other day:

Subject: ËnLærgê µR þêÑϧ ñã+üræLÿfrom Yogurt???
* * *
I know I tend to go on at length sometimes in these rants. It is write-itis; lots of people suffer from it. (They're called novelists.)
And that is why I worry that the point of my rants is often lost to people: It takes me 600 or 700 words just to get to the juicy bits. My last rant is a great example of what sparks that fear. It took me 750 words just to get to the point where I could say this:
Morality is based on compassion for your fellow humans. When your morality clashes with someone else's, the morality that is the most compassionate is closer to the truth.
That's it. C'est tout.
I mean, I spelled it out in more detail the other day, but what I came up with (morality is based on compassion) is all there is to the thought. Go read it if you like, or just take today's précis of it. Either way, it really makes things simpler, doesn't it?
