I think that even if I didn't mention it, people would probably be able to quickly discern that I am a Word Nerd. I am happy with that moniker. Besides, it fits.

And, proving that point, I now want to share with you a word I came up with. This word, I believe, should find its way into the mainstream polis, even if it never does. I coined it after trying in vain to come up with a name for the forces that split people in marriages apart and lead to divorce.

The word is:

Di vor' ci fy, Verb trans.
1. To act upon a marriage (or, possibly, partnership), to encourage divorce or separation, esp. by its very nature. Example: Prolonged exposure to pR0n by one or both parties can divorcify a marriage.
2. To apply a separating physical force upon two complementary items which are normally only found together. Example: He divorcified the knife blade from the handle with the pliers.

Divorcify, Verb intrans.
1. To separate or divorce, esp. as related to two people, spontaneously, or through internal phase transition. Example: After the kids left home, the marriage divorcified.

Also: Divorcifies, Divorcified, Divorcifying

Di vor' ci fi ca tion, noun, the act of Divorcifying
Di' vor ci' fic, adjective, of or pertaining to Divorcification
Di' vor ci' fic al ly, adverb, an action which, in addition to its own effect or behaviour, also Divorcifies
