I was poking around in my online email web client account and found this delightful five-year-old story I relayed to an ex-coworker about the people at the place I worked a few jobs ago:

B was having his code reviewed by several developers, A included. Well, he was getting more and more defensive about it, and started calling the reviewers "unprepared", "lazy", "stupid" (yes, really, "stupid"), and several other defensive and unpleasant terms. Finally, D, who was moderator, told him to "shut up, you're the idiot, not everyone else". This made B furious, and the meeting ended in heartbreak and destruction :-) And B went to D’s office demanding an apology, which D did not give him ... in fact, he told B that it was abusive the way he was acting. So B went into his office, like a small child and slammed the door, and closed the blinds so that nobody can see in. A (one of B’s victims) shares a thermostat with B, so he turned the heat up (B hates it when it is too hot). Such behaviour!

And now I wonder why I was so heart-broken when I got laid off from that place. It was not the greatest environment to work in ... and nobody took me particularly seriously there; there was no chance for advancement.

Hmmph, but that story makes me giggle—especially that part about the thermostat :-)
