-Sadly, a 14-year-old girl named Brianna Porter has accidentally entered my email address as the target for her friends' MySpace messages. I can't stop it, despite my attempts to contact her about her mistake. This is the latest communiqué from one of her friends.

It was my daughter's first Canada Day yesterday. She celebrated it by rolling around on and about a beach ball with us on a blanket in Burnaby Park, and also shoved some grass and twigs into her mouth when we weren't looking. Such a nice little set of simple pleasures. I was thinking of trying it myself, but worried that I might burst the beach ball. A $1.00 purchase at the dollar store is probably not the most reliable quality item one could find. I suspect.

I also went for a ride around the dikes of Richmond on my motorcycle, taking advantage of the sunny days and (mostly) empty roads. Unlike most motorcyclists, I don't avoid congestion because it gets in my way; I avoid it because when I am in my Sunday Driving Mode, I tend to get in its way! Lots of young men driving little puddle-hopper cars like Hyundais, Hondas, Toyotas, Volkswagons, Mitsubishis, etc. all think their cars are race cars and all traffic other racers to be beat. They especially have an aversion to speed-limit-obeying motorcyclists like me.

And, despite being able to do 0-60MPH in 4 seconds, and a 12-second quarter-mile, I chose not to. Let the young guys enjoy their speed demon lifestyle.

By putt-putting around Richmond in my usual sedate way, I enjoyed the ride and the scenery much more than if I were interested in driving as fast as my steed could take me.

Last night, I reorganized my blog a bit. I moved old posts to archive pages, by year. It was fun to look through them all so I could come up with a paragraph describing my life for that year. "2004 was one of those years where lots of things changed in a short period of time. I started the year unemployed, but quickly got a job ... " etc.
