Assuming they haven't yet been destroyed by my daughter, somewhere on a bookshelf in the basement are my Celtric Tree Cards and my (rather ugly) Tarot Cards. I used to roll the I Ching too.

Why did I spend time on these? I am a scientist first and foremost, but not a purist. I know that, independent of superstition and mysticism there are parts of the human mind that cannot be understood from a hard scientific basis. Psychologists will tell you all about it if you let them. Pseudo-science isn't really science, but it's not always drivel, either. One has to find one's own comfort level, I suppose.

So divination was a entertainment and a choice for several years with me. Not lately, but only because I've been so busy. It would be fun to drag them out sometime soon and see what they tell me about the future, my family, my career. Not because I think they would give me an edge or a view of the impossible-to-see. But because a new look on an old subject opens up the mind to possibilities.

As Richard Feynman said:

Keep an open mind, but not so open that your brain falls out.
