As part of a response to an ongoing conversation we've been having in my Mensa discussion group, a woman posted a link to YouTube video of a television commercial for a sort of wearable blanket, called a Snuggie.
Here, if you are interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xZp-GLMMJ0.
My interest in the commercial is not about the blankets themselves: Maybe they are a great idea, maybe not. But just look at the direction and acting in the commercial. It's almost laughable to me.
I love the way these commercials "invent the need" by showing the most uncomfortable, awkward, unappealing scenarios possible as the set up to the "solution" offered by their product. The woman with the too-small shawl is hilarious. She seems so ... incapable of coping with such a small thing.
Or there's a commercial I've seen a few times about some sort of chopper that shows possibly the most incompetent use of a knife to cut up onions I've ever seen. (And that includes awkward children :) )
Anyhow, I never get cold, so a Snuggie would be more of a hindrance than anything ... unless I wanted to go out at Halloween dressed as a pastor of a Californian church or something.
