Wow, have I ever been sick the last few days. Dreadfully, drearily, ... er, deathfully, sick.

It all started (and, actually, ended) with a can of turkey flakes. Just a little late-night snack, you see. But the first can I opened was bad—discoloured, smelling wrong, full of little black gungey bits. So I tossed that one and opened the second one. Seemed okay.

It wasn't.

It left me so sick I could do little more than sleep and crawl to the bathroom every hour or so for a couple of days. And even after I was so dehydrated there was nothing left to give to the Great Porcelain God, I had a fever of 101.5 F (38.5 C for those who like metric better) and couldn't eat anything. Just a few sips of water between long naps was the extent of my intake for two days.

People have asked me: "Who makes canned turkey?", completely forgetting the "flakes of" stuff. For the sad record, yes, I believe it was Maple Leaf turkey (yes, those Maple Leaf folks!) And before you ask, the reason I think it is this and not something else is because my wife ate everything I ate, except the canned turkey. A strong enough case, considering the rotted meat in the first can I opened.

Here's the alleged offender: http://www.mapleleaf.com/en/market/butcher/canned-meat/flakes-and-chunks/turkey/maple-leaf-flakes-of-turkey.

Anyhow, I'm back at work today, but I'm still woozy and tired. I checked my temperature this morning and it was normal—yay—but I am starting to feel a bit feverish again as the day wears on. At lunch I was on the verge of ordering a ham and cheese sandwich until the thought floated through my mind, "I wonder if that ham is Maple Leaf?" At which time I opted for a straight vegetable sandwich (I know, E.Coli. lives in lettuce, cucumbers, and tomatoes—all part of my sandwich; but what's a guy gonna do?) My vision is solid again, so at least I can mostly concentrate, but it's going to take a few more days before I will be thoroughly recovered from this.

Whew!
