Arthur C. Clarke wrote a summary of humans, as seen through an intellectually superior race in his fantastic (and severely flawed) masterwork novel, Childhood's End:
"Mysticism [is] the prime aberration of the human mind"
In a letter to the Administriator of the EPA dated October 27th, 2009, Physicist Howard Hayden wrote this:
To put it fairly but bluntly, the global-warming alarmists have relied on a pathetic version of science in which computer models take precedence over data, and numerical averages of computer outputs are believed to be able to predict the future climate. It would be a travesty if the EPA were to countenance such nonsense.
Unfortunately, letters of this kind are much too sensible to be taken seriously by a government agency ... or any group larger than about 3 people.
It would appear that we are living in the dawning of a new religious fervour the likes of which haven't been seen since the Dark Ages.
They wouldn't have built cathedrals if it hadn't been for the frivolous mysticism of religious dogma. What equally pointless but otherwise masterful works is the human race on the brink of now, with the New Church of Environmentalism?
(By the way, I did my homework about this, here it is.)
