Be indifferent, really threaten hierarchies, defend altruism, yield.

People are going to think this is racism, just for noticing ... except I am not decrying the end of the world or anything; just something I idly noticed while I waited in line to get my driver's license renewed today.
I stood in line (I counted) with two mid-Eastern men (brothers or lovers, I couldn't tell for sure), three Chinese (not 2-generation by their demeanour and choice of language), and a dark woman who was probably Jamaican. Behind the counter were four Chinese women--three second generation (or "Western") and one who spoke with a thick accent, one Asian woman, maybe Philipino (she was very short), and in the back I could make out a youngish Asian man, probably Chinese, in a suit and tie. I couldn't help noticing I was the only Caucasian in the whole office, until I saw what appeared to be the General Manager come up from the caves at the back--a white male wearing an oversized Canucks jersey. So there you have it: Lots of minorities at the ICBC license office.
(Also: Why is ICBC responsible for everything car-related these days? Is it just a matter of giving up the pretense?)
