
So, Step 1 is to haul half of the crap you normally find in your bedroom (dressers, mattress, assorted books and night tables) into the hallway. Stack it high if you can. Frighten your cat ... make navigation dang near impossible ... laugh maniacally while you do it!
Well, in all seriousness, when you live in a small condo the way my wife and I do, there is not a lot of extra space. When every room contains its own objects, there is no issue with moving around. But empty out one of the rooms (e.g., the bedroom) and everywhere else gets full to overflowing pretty quickly.
But you can't lay down a carpet until you have removed all furniture, uninstalled all doors, including sliding doors to the closet, and got the old carpet removed.
