Step 2 is to haul the rest of the bedroom crap into the living room.
Well, it is necessary to remove the closet doors (pictured, on their sides on the floor), the bedroom door itself (ditto) and all the baseboard moulding around the outside edges. I carefully pried them out and numbered them (also pictured, if you can recognise them) so that I could re-use them later. The living room just happened to be a convenient place to put them.
Charmingly, I just tossed the bedding (including pillows) on the couch or floor ... wherever I thought it wouldn't be in the way, really.
And the computer looks right at home under the piano, doesn't it? :-)
My next step was to pull up the old carpet and inspect the underlay. I kept my fingers crossed, because I wanted the underlay to be in good condition, not ground up and torn.
